Out of respect for other WellyLug'rs who quite likely arent interested in
the semantic discussion I'm not going to respond further to this thread
on-list, except to make the following statement:
A misunderstanding has been demonstrated as to NZLUG and its intentions,
and also its very existance.
To say NZLUG doesn't exist because it is not a legally incorporated
society, is small-minded. The people who participate in it are the very
people who give it substance. All we're trying to do is make it clear
that ALL are welcome.
This is no attempt to Poach anyone, nor is it anything other than an
honourable attempt to help the NZ Linux Community by creating a 'united'
identity.
WellyLug'rs are invited to participate - but are in no way obligated.
And we're not saying you should favour one over the other. Merely that you
are welcome, and that NZLUG is essentially the 'Sum of its Parts'. Its
parts being you, and us - the individuals.
I encourage interested parties to join us care of www.linux.net.nz (click
on 'user groups'). Note that i'm suggesting that your membership be _in
conjunction with_ Wellylug or any other group. :)
Further I invite those involved with the WellyLug at an administrative
level to contact me offlist with regard to the ongoing discussion about
the 'way forward' for NZLUG. Please know however that no decisions are
made without consulting the whole LUG, so even just being on NZLUG's
mailing list will keep you in the loop.
Finally be advised we have a Wiki at http://wiki.linux.net.nz and again,
all are welcome to participate.
We will continue to refer people to WellyLug and support it in any ways we
can. If you have something going on please feel free to post to our list
or submit an item to our site.
Anyone with any other questions is welcome to email me _offlist_. I won't
distract the list any further.
My apologies to anyone who found this discussion to be noisy or distracting.
Best regards,
Mark Foster
