I use Linux on my desktop everyday. The issue is not the OS. The OS is
fine. what catches me is the apps. Openoffice is mostly good. But that X
percent of the time where it misses really makes me shake my fist in the
air. Something I also really miss is decent Visio alternative - kivio,
kivio-mp and dia just don't cut it. All the other stuff is reasonably
good.

Spreadsheeting is OK. Usually word is the problem - and usually it's
people using unusual techniques in formatting that stuffs things up. If
someone was to format a complex document using Microsoft recommended
techniques, then 99 % of the time it's ok. But the problem is we have
driver error on the other side...
