Any strong RF signal will wipe out other strong RF signals if the
conditions are right.
It has a tendency to deafen receivers, more than wipe out transmissions.
They wind their own gain back in order to try to filter out the very
strong signal to the point where they cant receive the one theyre
listening for.

Ala its not something restricted to Wireless Networks ;-)

For consideration may be a change in your Antenna, if theres a fault or
poor connection with it.  Failing that if you think it is seriously weak,
get it tested professionally or swapped with another of the same model.
Finally make sure you have compared the results of at least a couple of
different wireless cards client-side, and eliminated any one card as a
potential issue as well.
