I have never tried it, but I can store data on my IRiver H120 mp3/ogg
player with Linux. It beats an ipod hands down, although it's no longer
manufactured (replaced by the H320 which I've never seen).
It uses the USB mass storage driver to access it as a removable 20MB HDD,
so it works in any modern OS. Was price comparable to the ipod, with a
proper metal case and the prospect of an upcoming Rockbox port - I don't
know why anyone would choose an ipod over it really...
