Fine, I didn't understand you were talking about troubleshooting.  Even so, as soon as the network interface is up and running on the machine, ssh is useable.  Here, as soon as any install has sshd running, the monitor and keyboard come off, permanently.  This also applies if X manages to get its shorts in a knot, tying up the keyboard/screen (which hasn't happened to me for a few years now).
