I've found that useful too. There's a bug in the file mgr in KDE 2.x
which, when you try to rename a file with the same name as another
existing file, completely hangs X (i.e. Ctrl-Alt-Backspace doesn't
work). After the first time it happened, I set up sshd to bind to the
local network, and now I can just SSH in and kill the offending
process, which restores the mouse and keyboard responsiveness.
Having said that, I use my KVM to switch the monitor and keyboard to
PC no. 2 in order to SSH in, so both can be handy :-)
