I have to agree... I gave up on AMD64 Ubuntu. I don't notice much speed
difference running the i386 version, though of course if you are running
databases, GIS, statistics and so on then 64 bits would be much better,
and I found AMD64 Suse 10 to be a better 64 bit distro (even though I
found its package management is horrid). I've also found Kubuntu to be
quite rotten as well.
