Hi,
Haven't used the etch installer for over a year now- however a while
back I installed a new box using centos4, set up 2 raid 5 software
partitions on 3 SATAs with one SATA failover (hotswap) with ease. Did
the installer in the advanced hard disk partitioning section allow you
to format both SATA disks as RAID? The only problem I've had in the past
with setting up a RAID1 mirror is booting- lilo had trouble
finding /boot filesystem on the array, so I recall using a grub boot
floppy for stage one and was able to boot OK. Otherwise if you have
another hard disk you can put /boot on it, then the rest of your /
filesystem on the two SATAs in RAID1 mirror. Again, it should be easy to
do during the installation process..
