I can't find pppconfig on either the install or on any of the other SC3 CDs.

I find the pppconfig program useful for this sort of thing.

To see if it is available on your machine, open a console (or press
Alt-F1 for a virtual terminal) and type 'pppconfig'.

It asks you a bunch of questions.  If you don't know the answers, you
can just put in some junk, and don't save your configuration when
finished.  The important step is that it will (at least it does on my
machine) an auto-detect of modems.

If pppconfig detects your modem (it should automatically check
ttyS0-3) then you are away.  If not, please post the output of the
'dmesg' command.
