No I have not tried the Outlook connector for two reasons:
1. Cost - Per year Zimbra is a lot of money and only makes sense in  
largish organisations.
2. And more importantly I don't use Outlook :-)

I run a mixture of OSX/Linux so thankfully I don't have to use  
Outlook (which I consider probably the worst email client on the  
market today).
I can tell you that Zimbra works fine with OSX Mail, Thunderbird and  
Evolution. They do provide ics (iCal) support for calendaring in the  
open source version which is all I need.

I've had a few email and forum discussions with Zimbra's support guy  
Kevin and he's very reasonable.
They also have a decent and active forum just for the Outlook Connector:

Unfortunately they are steadfastly resisting all requests to sell the  
connector in small quantities (maybe out of fear it gets reverse  
engineered?).
