[wellylug] Ubuntu 6.06 LTS - First Impressions

With the release overnight of the Ubuntu 6.06 LTS quickly got onto the 
torrent and got me a copy.

I installed it this afternoon and thought I would give my first impressions.

1) I found the installation nice and easy, they do a LiveCD boot and 
then you install from there. Better than earlier versions

2) It failed to configure my external monitor for my notebook correctly 
- Which strangely enough it had no problem with the previous Ubuntu 
version I installed

3) The default theme (Human) was really sluggish (on my 1.3Ghz Celeron M 
with 512MB memory) not to mention painfully UGLY. Switching the theme to 
clearlooks improved interactive performance noticeably.

Other than that it was basically more of the same old Ubuntu with that 
little more Gnomish polish.
