[wellylug] Ubuntu 6.06 - More Impressions

I did a 5.10 install last week and immediately upgraded to 6.06. I'm
rather pleased with the outcome. I used a few helpers to get the eye
candy:

I also used this document to get some of the other little tweaks working.

I used the following URL to set up X to work with my Dell 2005FPW monitor:

http://ractor.org/archives/2005/04/dell_2005fpw_an.php

Since I'm a font whore, I made sure to install the msttcorefonts package:

http://packages.debian.org/stable/x11/msttcorefonts

The next thing I'd like to get going is a better window manager. Sure
Gnome's pretty and all, but I need something that's a bit more
minimalistic yet more flexible at the same time. I have used Fluxbox
very sucessfully in the past, but lately I've been hearing some nice
things about fvwm. The bad thing with the good that I've heard about
FVWM is that it's *too* configurable.

I'm not looking at going back to Gentoo any time soon, I'll tell y'all
that. Just tired of rebuilding everything when it's time to upgrade.
:-)

Just my two cents worth...
