[wellylug] Recommend a UPS?

Can anyone recommend a UPS that "works with Linux" ?
Requirements:
- line interactive
- the more 'true' power, the better: sustain time isn't so much of an
issue, I just want to get messages sent to three PCs and have them shut
down safely.
- IEC output sockets, or standard NZ AC sockets would be even better...
- 1+ surge-only output
- budget $600ish
- USB communications OR 'proper' RS232 (i.e. not modified in any way).
- working Linux driver
- replaceable batteries would be nice
- DSL phoneline protection
Also has anyone seen a cable in retail that has an IEC male plug on one
end, and a standard AC female socket on the other? That would be handy
because I have a bunch of peripherals (e.g. water pump for cooling)
running from mains power with standard AC plug that I really do not want
to cease operating in a power cut if the workstation is still going!
The APC series looks interesting but many seem to be either 110V output,
or American-style output sockets.
Also, if anyone has experience working out what 'enough' power is, I'm
planning to have a UPS that can sustain and safely shut down after a few
minutes the following:
- headless Pentium 3 733MHz
- headless Celeron 466MHz
- PC workstation (2.2GHz)
- possibly another workstation (1.5GHz) but undecided. Would be nice to
budget for this to be 'possible' to add later.
- lots of headroom for future plans
I don't plan to backup the monitor(s) but I'd still have it on the 'safe'
side of the UPS, along with everything else that is otherwise connected to
one of these PCs.
Any ideas/suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated, please.
