Your camera should just appear as a USB drive, and you can copy the
files from there. gThumb tries very hard to be smart about importing
from cameras that do not work as generic USB drives (i.e. older
cameras); that function isn't needed for your camera.

If your camera isn't automatically mounting, then you need to look
outside gThumb for the problem. As Jonathan says, an upgrade might be
required, but I'm pretty sure its supposed to work with your current
version.
