Hi, Timothy.
I tend to the opinion that very strong "safe" security is essential on
network borders, and that layers of various types of security within
individual machines are also essential to prevent possible attacks from
within the network.

Now, on a different topic, I was asked yesterday whether or not diald
was the programme that is used to automatically dialup a ppp connection
as required. I said that I thought it was. Was I correct?
The reason why I'm asking is that I have set my Smoothwall box to
automatically dial out as required. I have not investigated the internal
operations of that firewall too thoroughly as yet but I had been of the
impression that it was using diald; and I did feel a right charley in
not being able to give a definitive answer on the spot.
