It was suggested that we move this to the wlug_org list (which is the
wellylug_admin list) but some of the pro-advertisement members preferred to
reply here instead. So the thread was retained here.....

It may be worth pointing out (advertising? :-) that Wellylug does have 3 lists:

this one for general Linux related posts (ad. free): wellylug
one for members who want to post (& read) adverts: wlug_trade
one for organisational/administrative posts: wlug_org

We also have a web site (www.wellylug.org.nz) where these are described, and
links provided for people to subscribe (or possibly unsubscribe :-)

http://www.wellylug.org.nz/index.php?page=discussion/discussion.php

The guidelines/or rules for using these lists (which have been widely
discussed, voted on and approved on the org list, this list & at meetings in
the past) are also there at:

http://www.wellylug.org.nz/index.php?page=discussion/discussion-rules.php

If anyone feels these are unclear or inappropriate, might I suggest, as Jethro
did previously, that any discussion about changing them is carried out on the
org list, where those who are interested can contribute without inflicting the
posts on those who aren't.

It may also be worth familiarising yourselves with the information provided on
the website, and the archived messages on advertising and related topics from
previous iterations of this discussion which identified pretty much the same
issues & problems, and proposed (& accepted) the current rules as the approach
we would use.

Spotcha.....

   Brent
