Hrm, sounds like no wifi module loaded or no driver auto-detected
for the card?

Is there any output in system log or dmesg that points to a failing
driver?

Or is it just your wifi card is off? Check your laptop documentation
- and make sure the wifi is on - and maybe try a reboot? (Don't laugh
- I had one of them last week)

What hardware spec is your laptop? what wifi card/chipset?

Sorry, hopefully someone can help further.
