Simple: if you don't care about any of the packages it wants to remove
accept the default offering.

This is a feature; edit the files /etc/kubuntu-default-settings/hidden-*
to alter the list of hidden files, or simple remove the '.hidden'
symlink from / and /media to disable it entirely.

As an aside this is a feature that GNOME has apparently both supported
and used, and I do think that it is a reasonable setting to assist new
users.

It might have been better advertised in the release notes, I guess, but
I doubt many people would have bothered to read that far anyway.  

Er, no comment on the folks in this discussion intended; back when I
wrote software for a living we knew that almost no one ever read the
release notes -- and I still don't. ;)
