the only way you can do this, is by having 2 screens setup - the desktop
will be extended across both screens. This is called Xinerama.

The other option is to have multiple screens setup in X.

There is no way in which you can have a single program only appear on
one screen, but have nothing else appear.

However, the ability to show movie frames on a different screen with
dual-screens is possible. You just have to accept that you will also be
forced to run a desktop on that screen.
