[wellylug] ifup -a at boot up not bringing up all interfaces

that's redhat style Jo - Debian uses a quite different configuration
scheme.

the fact that ifup -a brought up all the interfaces, shows that the
interfaces were set to "auto" and therefore should have been brought up
at boot.

Siggy, were there any errors in the log relating to this issue?
