One small etiquette point is to include a little of the previous post
when you reply! Helps with the context.
You can post top or bottom of the original post so far as I am
concerned, though some people have strong feelings on the matter.
It is best to snip some older posts, though, to avoid the post becoming
too long.
Anyway, back to Unix/Linux. Any Unix/Linux book will do (with the
exception of books on Solaris). There are enough similarities between
most Unixes and Linux to make little difference though if you intend to
use Linux, look for a book on that. An old one will do to start with,
and will probably focus on the command line. Which is good, mainly, but
won't help you get X working in a hurry!
It will take time, but I find it worth it.
I also had a Luggable. My back still hurts......
