Further, ensure that the DSL device has a telepermit sticker on it which 
confirms its approval to operate on the Telecom NZ Network.  Without this, 
any problems you experience may simply be written off as 'incompatible 
device' - and you become responsible if theres any flow-on affects 
(unlikely as it may be) to the network itself.

Oh, and another vote for Ethernet over USB...
