Like you, I can't get to meetings. On the other hand, I do run a list
called PC-Helpers with 106 members scattered around the globe. Having it
is like one continuous meeting. With the recent issues involving Vista
(esp the DRM), several of them are speaking of dumping windows and going
to Linux. It was prompted by this report from Auckland University:

This may be just the first stage of something larger. Still getting back
to meetings, I somehow managed to get to the last installfest. While
there, I made a friend or two, and have kept in touch since then. Maybe
that's the best thing to come out of it. Friends go out of their way to
help each other. We don't need to wait for meetings. Don't you get
something good from helping a friend?
