I should add that 3D is a relatively low priority - lower than free
drivers.

Given that, it seems that the nv driver does work, and nVidia is
currently more friendly towards OSS than ATI, so that's probably the
better choice. It's not clear whether it does dual head, though. More
research required, I suppose ...
