Gidday David,

I'd like to come along to this if that's alright.  Have been reading his 
bio, sounds like an interesting guy.

As for a venue, maybe a small conference room in a hotel might be the 
best bet if we all chip in?  Shouldn't cost too much if all we need is a 
table and a waiter to top up the drinks :)
