that's partially true... Windows itself is unable to read Linux partitions.
However, there are some 3rd party programs (free download) for Windows
which connect with windows and allow you to read and write ext3 partitions
in the same way as any other drive.
However, if you want to share files between Windows and Linux, the best
thing to do is to create a FAT32 filesystem, as both Windows and Linux can
read/write this without a problem.
