[wellylug] Moving Evolution Emails

I want to do a clean install into a new machine of my work files. I'm
moving from Dapper to Feisty. This is comparatively easy except for my
copious emails and contacts. (I have one of each and feel a need to boast).

The import function is well covered but how do I export stuff first?
If I simply copy key files from my personal .evolution  folder am I going to
damage the new installation of Evolution?
I found the inbox file but if I simply copy it into the new Evolution will
it work faultlessly?

And why is it so darn hard to get info on such an important and basic
process as backing up and moving email files? One of the reasons I use Linux
is the emotional damage that was done to me when I attempted to find and
move Outlook files.

Oh and if anyone knows the meaning of life I'll have that too please.
