This does not work still. I started again, added the new printer,
left it at the suggested driver, clicked Apply but still the test
page won't print nor anything else in any app.

A friend has helped me with this and it seems Canon do not supply
drivers, only for windows. There is one on a webpage for linux but then
the printer needs to be connected to the USB port. I am giving the printer
back and now need to find a printer that will just work straight away
with Ubuntu, maybe I should stick to Epson, any advice or experiences
please?
