I don't know what their availability is down under, but I've had
*great* success with my Timbuk2 Commute, a laptop messenger bag.  It
slings over the shoulder and fits all my gear.  I have the small - for
my 12" powerbook or my X31 Thinkpad, and if needed, I can fit *both*
in there.

They have a fairly decent line of backpacks too, but I haven't
actually used any of them yet.  (I have been considering investigating
one though.)
