I'd love to get an old dial-up external serial-port modem or two, if 
anyone out there is planning on tossing theirs out.

I hope Ubuntu's Hardy Heron will still support the basic Hayes command 
set and /dev/tty.  (Had a hell of a time with Fedora Core 5, when it 
refused to detect the serial port mouse on installation, then discovered 
Fedora 7 was incompatible with Modem Lights.)  It's a pain, clinging to 
the old ways.  :-)
