My suggestion would be to try EeePCLinuxOS. Running now on my 701 from a
live 4Gig SD card as an evaluation prior to installation. Everything
works OOTB, except for Skype account setup so far. Installation to the
SD was simple for a noobie like me, and virtually the entire repository
of the parent OS is available.
