wvdial is a command line dialer, so you would always have to run it from
the CLI.
I suggest you use a graphical dialer, now that you know the details of
the modem and the fact that it works.
Follow through the steps on the wiki to setup gnome-ppp (or whatever
dialer you prefer)

But instead of doing the auto-detect of the modem, change the field that
says "/dev/modem" to say "/dev/ttyUSB0"
