I wish to use an optical drive connecting to a USB socket on
the Aspire, to run the system recovery disc. I've managed to
reduce OS functionality (all File functions are no longer
available, nor is the battery indicator, and the PC does not
appear to recognise a 4GB SD card plugged in to the System
Expansion slot) after successfully downloading and
installing live updates. At the point of rebooting, I chose
mistakenly to close the PC down and reboot, rather than
rebooting from the update menu.As this may happen again, or
in a similar manner with some other "finger trouble", I an
considering investing in an optical drive. BUT those I've
looked at refer to Vista OS, whereas the Aspire uses a
cutdown Fedora OS. Do I have to reconfigure the optical
drive?? Hope this makes sense! Cheers, Keno!
