[wellylug] NIC out

Hi all
I have some troubles with one of my Suse 10 Box.
My network connection stopped working. Changed the Realtek 8169 for a 
spare one (kown to be working ;-) ), nothing...
The onboard nvidia is not working either. :-(

All parameters are ok, the machine can not ping anything on my network, 
eth links are detected at boot (green light on the NIC) and stopped 
working as soon as I log in.
For the sake of it I tried the supposedly buggered realtek card: same 
stuff, card detected fine.

The otjher machines of the network are working ok.
I know that SUSE 10 had some issues with the realtek (phy read time 
out... dead entries stuff) so intalled the drivers from source : still nada
I decided to go back to use the nvidia onboard NIC: installed new 
drivers, result : nothing but detected when I use if config or ethtool.

I am speechless... I changed nothing on this machine, dont know where to 
go from there apart from a buggered switch (cable is new by the way)

Any suggestion ? An upgrade is not an option for various reasons (one 
being interfacing coriander, cinelerra, vloopback). If I do an upgrade 
it will be a windows machine. :-D
