Another option is to install Windows first then install Ubuntu using WUBI
http://wubi-installer.org/.
 
I have a Thinkpad X61 which came with Vista preloaded. I installed Ubuntu
8.04 using WUBI. The install was simple and flawless. I had originally
intened to blow away Vista but I now do not see any need to do so.
