[wellylug] Installing linux on a usb memory stick

You'd be better off installing both windows and linux onto the hard
disk, then choosing which one you want to run at boot time.
The way to do it is install windows first, but leave unpartitioned space
on the hard disk. Maybe half of it? Then install linux and get it to use
the free space for itself. During the install linux should detect that
windows is already there and install a boot loader which will let you
choose which OS to run when you turn the computer on.
