[wellylug] Missing harddrive

Hello,
I have attached an USB harddrive to my Ubuntu box. The system recognizes the
HDD and I can access it via storage media. I am using XBMC as a media player
and I cannot find the external drive through the XBMC add source option.
Where does Ubuntu hide the drive. The permissions for the drive are listed
as root and root, but it also says others can view the files on the drive.
Any help would be appreciated.
