[wellylug] Missing harddrive

As soon as you plug the drive in, Ubuntu should automatically "mount"
the drive, this should give you an icon on the desktop to the drive, as
well as an entry to the drive in the "Places" menu.
In Ubuntu, all drives are mounted under the /media folder, usually when
it automounts it will look at the volume label of the disk and use that
as the name of the mount point. It may be /media/external or /media/disk
or something.
Make sure you remove the drive properly when finished by right clicking
the icon on the desktop and choosing unmount. Otherwise if it is an NTFS
drive it may not mount properly next time until you scan the disk for
errors.
