Had a similar problem recently - stuck on a 12mth telecom plan with
just 40gb/mth (up AND down)

20gb won't get you through the first 2 weeks realistically with 6
people's facebook/twitter/email/p2p habits buzzing away

If you're stuck with telecom as I was, I reccomend switching to the
Telecom unmetered plan... it's not too restrictive, you can get decent
2mbps+ during the day and full adsl2 at night...

Not had an issue on this plan yet, and it's cheaper than I was paying
for the 40gb with them, still it's not quite as good as unmetered
20Mbit for $60nzd/mth in the uk... perhaps nz will one day catch up!
