[wellylug] Skypeless in Seattle

Can anyone assist with a Skype setup please. The Eee701 box with 
EeePCLinux aboard works seamlessly except for ******! Skype. Choose a 
user name, it says. Well, nearly half an hour of me making suggestions, 
some of them risque, and it making alternate sometimes risque offers 
that it then won't accept when I do, I remain Skypeless. There is an 
advanced configuration screen which I have left alone out of ignorance 
that has a port setting already, and automatic proxy detection set too. 
Is this all just Skype, or is my box missing something vital.
