Hi,
I'm new to Wellington and to using Ubuntu. I've been working in open source software and libraries, and with the move to New Zealand I thought I'd make the move to Linux.
I'm not able to use the wireless router (D-Link DIR-300) that we set up at home. My partner is able to connect using her Mac, but the only way I can get internet is by plugging in directly to the cable modem. Neither wireless or a wired connection through the wireless modem works. After talking to D-Link support they suggested that I needed to reinstall the network adapter. After reading the support forums, I only vaguely know what this means.
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 3680. I found this on the Ubuntu forums, which suggests I need to replace the wireless card: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=551621 Opening up my laptop feels beyond my abilities.
Any suggestions for a local company or individual who would be able to help me? Any idea how much it would cost?
Thanks!
Tara
