I've got PCLOS 2009.1 running quite happily on a 6 yr old HP NX9005 of 
similar spec. It is a friendly, capable distro for a noob like me and 
very intuitive in set-up. Supports all sorts of things OOTB, and has 
spawned lesser spec OS's for lesser spec'd machinery, even Eeepc's.
