Never mind that, your problem will be much easier to solve if you first
upgrade or reinstall Ubuntu to at least 8.04 Hardy Heron (the current
long term release), and probably the latest release, 9.10 Karmic Koala.
Dapper Drake is no longer supported or updated on the desktop.

MYOB works well enough in Wine[1], but it always pays to use the latest
version of Wine. The budgetdedicated folks have apt repositories for the
latest wine versions on Hardy and Koala[2], and there is a 1.0 release
available for dapper but it is not maintained[3].
