I agree with the points Daniel has made. I think that dismissing them as
"nonsense", and unilaterally declaring "we have established" and "we've had
enough" is going a little bit too far.

I find the ire directed at a mildly-phrased suggestion quite puzzling.

I know a lot of people on this list will have admired Douglas Hofstadter's
