[wellylug] HUAwei mobile broadband on Ubuntu 12.04

Is anyone using a 2degrees mobile broadband on 12.04 Ubuntu?

Mine worked out of the box on 11.10 but I can't get the icon to show
on network-manager in 12.04
I've tried re-editing it in network-manager a number of times and
pulled it out and pushed it in and stopped and started the networking,
but except for one amazing time which stopped again when I restarted
the computer it is invisible.

It may work on my more robust main computer when it is not running off
of a live cd but I don't want to risk an upgrade of Ubuntu until I
know I can get internet consistently. I tried it on a full install on
a smaller machine (worked once only) and on two decent computers
running live usb / cd (didn't work).
