I am a strong supporter of a WellyLUG IRC channel. #slug (sydney linux
users group) has got me out of
trouble on a number of occasions, and there is certainly the talent - if
not the inclination - to do the same
in Wellington, or NZ.

The last time I looked into it, the problem was that some VUW computer
students had appropriated it.

I set up a facebook account, but as my understanding of it grew I
decided I would not participate.

Linux social media I like include gwibber and indenti.ca

Cheers,

Adam.
