Fair Enough JamieD. Just a suggestion dude :-)

Obviously you feel very strongly about this, and given your background
in the wellylug, this is an important opinion - which I certainly will
listen to.

Also taking into account Brent's comments, it seems the sugggestion was
not a particularly good one. Nevermind.

I guess my question is this, if the Wellylug and InstallFests are
basically a non profit exercise (which incidentally I agree with), then
does this make Wellylug essentially a social club? If Wellylug is in
essence a social club then do we use activities of the WellyLug (such as
InstallFests) to perpetuate social activities within the LUG? Is that a
bad thing? Or is that a good thing?

I guess we are starting to see the points that Colin made (LOL). As
Jethro suggested we could put it aside for a rainy day - but then where
do we put the money? In a bank account? - Whose? And if we spend the
money on assets - then who owns them?

I have other questions: What is "lug related things"? What is "Promotion
etc"

As an aside, donation might be a nice way to solve the problem (at least
from a moral perspective). But I guess some of the issues above also
apply. But maybe it should just be free. This would avoid a lot of the
hassles.

But personally speaking, making the LUG a fun thing to belong to, is a
good thing. Social events are fun. Therefore we should at least use the
exercise to have fun within the LUG. Could be a curry_night, could be a
picnic in the gardens, it could be a game of
laser_strike/paintball/go-karts whatever. The point with social events
is that they generally speaking are fun, and there's no assets at the
end of it (i.e non profit?)

At the last InstallFest meeting I suggested that the meeting of the 19th
might be a good time to discuss housekeeping issues. So far I figure
these are the things we need to discuss:

1. Mailing List Etiquette.
2. Interest from the Greens.
3. InstallFest Update
4. ??

What do you guys think?

:-)

Cheers
