Exactly my thoughts.

I think the latter is the current situation.  If you intend to use a 
process as a serious decision making tool, you don't start this way.  It's 
also meant to be the LUG website, the LUG needs to be able to exercise 
complete control.

I agree that the result of the poll doesn't give anyone a mandate to act on 
it.  But we suddenly have an apparently official LUG poll, on the official 
LUG website, on a significant question which doesn't appear to have been 
authorized by the LUG.  Seriously, it needs to be pulled.

We seem to be seriously lacking in any sort of process here,  lack of 
structure and formal positions was meant to give the members greater 
involvement not less.  We can't afford to start going off half cocked, pull 
back, define the process, and do it right first time.
No doubt this process stuff and the specific money question can be 
discussed as part of the "6 Month Organising Group Review" listed for 
Mondays meeting.
