It's non-linux related so yes keep it off the main list (maybe post a 
notice to say it is being discussed here though).

 From my experience businesses who donate resources/spaces etc certainly 
don't expect a monetary gift.  Give them appreciation, goodwill and 
publicity and they'll be more than happy.  Some sort of token gift of 
appreciation maybe (bottle of wine, crate of beer style of thing).

Wouldn't spend it on assets unless it is something that the group really 
really needs, that benefits the whole group. (Maybe a multi distribution nz 
based mirror - but even then that only benefits those who are charged less 
for NZ traffic (like me :-)).  Yes a server at Lan Place might be good, or 
better still one that is publicly available throughout the month, not just 
on one day.

I think the most appropriate thing to do is feed it back into things that 
directly promote the aims of the group.  Eg
  Running install-fests, workshops, repair clinics etc.
  Promoting/publicising Linux/Open Source.
  Publicising the groups existence and aims etc.
