Damon, I like it. It's in the tone and style that I'd hoped. 1 thing,
Guideline 3 is getting a little 'preachy'.
Maybe the:
"For instance, we all need to be able to run GNU/Linux, and none of
us would be happy if it were one day made illegal for us to do
so. The lesson in all of this is to be tolerant of our fellow
members. <this I like-> We can achieve more together than we could by acting alone."

Maybe that could be slightly reworded and shifted to the introduction section.
The overriding theme IMHO is openmindedness and acceptance of other
peoples views.

Ewen, if no money changes hands - i.e If we have pre-understood trade
rules for distro's/sw etc (2 blanks for 1 iso etc) on list then is this
acceptable?

Looks like what Sam is doing is the way to solve this problem. Just as
long as Sam makes it clear that it's buy/sell/exchange only.

Let's rely on peer pressure rather than actively censor. If people are
viewed as using bad language, then existence of these guidelines will
help other people in pointing them to suggest a change in behaviour.
Like you say Tony 'flexibility' - these are guidelines firstly, and
rules secondly IMHO.
